Finland selects Nathaniel Mellors and Erkka Nissinen for 2017 Venice Biennale with 'The Aalto Natives'

At the 57th Venice Biennale in 2017, Finland will be represented by British artist Nathaniel Mellors alongside Finnish artist Erkka Nissinen. Their work, named 'The Aalto Natives', was selected from a pool of 96 submissions during an open call. Curated by Xander Karskens, the exhibition will transform the Finnish Pavilion into an engaging space featuring multimedia elements such as video, sculpture, and a talking egg. The jury responsible for the selection comprised curator Katerina Gregos, Taru Elfving, Maaretta Jaukkuri, professor Sarat Maharaj, Leevi Haapala (director of the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art), and artist Patrik Söderlund.
