Finland launches Helsinki Happiness Hacks to teach tourists how to be happy
Finland, named the happiest country in the world for the seventh consecutive year by the World Happiness Report, is inviting tourists to participate in the Helsinki Happiness Hacks from June 10 to 14, 2024. The free program, open to applicants aged 18 and over, pairs participants with happiness hackers who guide them through Helsinki's sauna culture, sea, islands, design, and eccentric charm. Applications are accepted via Instagram or TikTok until April 4, with social media visibility a key selection criterion. The initiative is organized by the Finnish tourism board, leveraging the country's top ranking in the World Happiness Report, which is compiled by the Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Oxford based on the Cantril Scale and factors like GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom, generosity, and corruption. Italy ranks 41st.
