Finarte's Modern and Contemporary Auction Grows 20%, Sets Record for Emilio Isgrò
Finarte's November 9 auction of Modern and Contemporary Art saw a 20% increase compared to its spring sale, totaling nearly €2 million. Italian Pop Art dominated, with strong results for Tano Festa, Mario Schifano, and Giosetta Fioroni. A record was set for Emilio Isgrò: four large works from his 1985 cycle La veglia di Bach, recently shown at Palazzo Reale in Milan, sold for €90,000, over 50% above the previous record. Top lots included Sam Francis's Senza titolo (1991) at €85,000, Dadamaino's Volume a moduli sfasati (1960) at €65,000, Achille Perilli's Allegoria dell'autunno (1966) at €40,000, Claudio Parmiggiani's Senza titolo (Lettera B) (2009) at €35,000, and Roberto Crippa's Ara (1960-1961) at €30,000. Tano Festa's works performed exceptionally: Trafalgar Square (1969) sold for €42,000 (more than double the high estimate), Da Michelangelo (1966-1968) for €35,000 (triple estimate), and Le dimensioni del cielo (1965) for €32,000 (nearly triple estimate). Mario Schifano's Senza titolo (1982) more than doubled its high estimate at €26,000; Finestra (1980s) from Furio Colombo's collection and Futuristi (1970s) each sold for €10,000. Giosetta Fioroni's Senza titolo (late 1960s) nearly doubled its estimate at €21,000.
