Final Contemporary Art Show at Sant'Orsola Construction Site in Florence

The exhibition 'The Rose That Grew From Concrete' is the last art event held at the Sant'Orsola construction site in Florence before its official opening as the Museo Sant'Orsola in 2026. Curated by Morgane Lucquet Laforgue, the group show features 14 artists who created site-specific works responding to the site's layered history as a convent, manufacture, refuge, and ruin. The title references a poem by Tupac Shakur, symbolizing resilience and rebirth. Artists include Shubha Taparia, who applied gold to cracks in the vault plaster; Federico Gori, with suspended copper leaves; Mireille Blanc, collaborating with Florentine scagliola artisans Bianco Bianchi; Clara Rivault, with a stained glass piece above Lisa Gherardini's tomb; Elise Peroi, weaving botanical and textile memory; and Bianca Bondi, transforming household objects into salt rituals. The exhibition also includes the audio project 'Dominae', a podcast created with IED Florence that intertwines memories of women who lived in the convent with contemporary artists' visions. The show is described as a listening device for the site, not merely a collateral event, but a poetic dialogue between memory and matter.
