Filo e Vetro: Five Women Artists Explore Fragility at Altare Glass Museum

The Museo dell’Arte Vetraria Altarese in Altare, Savona, hosts 'Filo e Vetro. Dialoghi contemporanei tra materia, spazio e memoria' until July 12, part of the 14th edition of Altare Vetro Arte. Curated by Giuse Maggi and Michela Murialdo with the museum's scientific committee, the exhibition brings together five women artists—Silvia Levenson, Laura GuildA, Cristiane Geraldelli, Federica Rindone, and Loredana Mantello—to explore the interplay between thread and glass. Both materials are described as fragile yet resilient, capable of tracing connections and preserving memory. Laura GuildA, born in Berlin and trained at NABA and Accademia di Brera, stands out for her integration of textile practices, installation, and material experimentation, using weaving, sewing, knotting, and glass engraving as tools of thought. Her slow, meditative approach resonates with Altare's artisanal heritage. Silvia Levenson addresses memory and human relationships through glass as a narrative device; Cristiane Geraldelli investigates form and perception; Federica Rindone and Loredana Mantello develop poetics intertwining matter, space, and symbolic dimension. The exhibition is framed as a cross-disciplinary exercise linking tradition with contemporary urgencies.
