Filo 61: Salone del Tessile Unveils 'Ir-reality Show' Theme for February 2024

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The 61st edition of Filo, the international textile salon, will take place on February 28-29, 2024, under the macro-theme 'Ir-reality Show', conceived by creative director Gianni Bologna. The theme draws inspiration from modern masks created with AI and media, exploring hyper-personalization and a new aesthetic. It unfolds through four textile interpretations: 'C'era una volta' (Once Upon a Time) reimagines Italian textile tradition in a light, prime-time TV show format, featuring revised geometric classics, cloqué, and double satins. 'Fumetto' (Comic) encourages colorful, ironic, and exaggerated fantasy with knit art, techno fancy, and multi-surface fabrics. 'Naturopatia' (Naturopathy) addresses nature desecration and resource exploitation, proposing butterfly-wing ribs, compact honeycomb, floral motifs, and decorative tricot. 'Serial' references TV series and the complex emotions they evoke, featuring micro patterns, waterproof technical fabrics, reflective surfaces, and compact interlock. Paolo Monfermoso, head of Filo, emphasizes that the Creative Dialogues are a reference point for textile innovation, focusing on product and processing. The dialogues are published exclusively online to allow professionals worldwide to access them anytime. Gianni Bologna notes that the theme explores elegance, beauty, sustainability, audacious looks, and comfort.
