Filmoteca d'Estiu 2026 Expands Program with 17 Films, Women Directors, and River-Themed Cycle
The Filmoteca d'Estiu, hosted by the Institut Valencià de Cultura, will take place in the gardens of the Palau de la Música in Valencia from July 31 to August 29, 2026. This year, the event will showcase 17 feature films and two short films over 26 screenings, an increase from 12 in 2025. Among the films, seven are directed by women, including Avelina Prat and Elena López Riera, who will present 'Una quinta portuguesa' and 'El agua' as the festival's opening and closing films, respectively. The lineup features a thematic cycle titled 'Un río de cine' and notable releases from 2025. Additionally, classics such as 'L'Atalante' and 'Apocalypse Now' will be screened, along with recent award-winning works. Each session will commence with a montage of home videos highlighting Valencian rivers, and a new visual identity created by the studio Democràcia will be introduced.
