Film series on Pre-Raphaelite movement at MIC Milan

In conjunction with the exhibition 'Preraffaelliti. Amore e desiderio' at Palazzo Reale in Milan (until October 6), the MIC – Museo Interattivo del Cinema is hosting a film series dedicated to the Pre-Raphaelite movement. The series begins on August 30 with the first episode of 'Desperate Romantics' (2009), a BBC TV production shown on the big screen for the first time. The six-episode series reconstructs the historical context of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood in mid-19th century Victorian London, following founders Dante Gabriel Rossetti, John Everett Millais, and William Holman Hunt. On September 1, the program includes 'Il mistero di Galatea' (1918) by Giulio Aristide Sartorio, a Symbolist film with parallels to the Pre-Raphaelites. Other screenings: 'The Young Victoria' (2009) by Jean Marc Vallée, the restored silent film 'Dante e Beatrice' (1913) by Mario Caserini, and Kenneth Branagh's 'Hamlet' (1996). Visitors presenting the exhibition ticket at the MIC box office get free entry to screenings; showing the Cinetessera 2019 at Palazzo Reale grants reduced exhibition admission (€12 instead of €14).
