Film on Costantino Nivola's sandcasting technique premieres at Magazzino Italian Art

A documentary titled 'The Sandman' explores the life and work of Sardinian-born artist Costantino Nivola (1911–1988), who emigrated from Orani to New York via Paris. The film, directed by Enrico Pinna and Andrea Mura and curated by Domenico Palma, is presented by Magazzino Italian Art in collaboration with Italian publisher Ilisso. It premieres on April 23, 2021, on Magazzino's website and social media, coinciding with the exhibition 'Nivola: Sandscapes' opening May 8, 2021. The documentary traces Nivola's career from his 1939 arrival in New York to his development of the sandcasting sculpture technique and his large-scale mature works. Nivola collaborated with major 20th-century artists and architects, creating a unique art infused with creativity and nature.
