festival-fair · 2026-04-26

Director Matteo Parisini, who previously made the documentary 'Infinito. L’universo di Luigi Ghirri', returns with a new film titled 'Oltre il confine' focusing on photographers Mimmo and Francesco Jodice. The film will premiere on October 16, 2025, at the MAXXI museum in Rome as part of the Freestyle Arts section of the Festa del Cinema di Roma 2025. 'Oltre il confine' traces 60 years of the Jodices' photography, examining the evolution of the craft from father to son. Mimmo Jodice, deeply rooted in Naples, is known for a metaphysical and experimental vision, while Francesco Jodice's research centers on geopolitics, anthropological cultures, and global metropolises. The film features the two protagonists reviewing their work together at a table, offering a biographical account that reveals behind-the-scenes stories of iconic photographs. Parisini stated he felt the urgency to explore the rarely deeply addressed theme of generational transition in art, emphasizing the human relationship that sustains their artistic experience.
