Film Meets Art: Second Episode Compares Cinema and Painting

The second episode of the video compilation Film Meets Art, curated by director and actor Vugar Efendi, has been released. Following the first episode launched in March 2016, which went viral, this new montage explores the relationship between cinema and painting through about fifteen comparisons. The format remains a simple side-by-side sequence of paintings and film scenes. It begins with Sofia Coppola's Lost in Translation, inspired by a work by John Kacere, and includes William Friedkin's The Exorcist evoking René Magritte's L'Empire des Lumières. Jonathan Glazer references Marc Chagall, and Jean-Luc Godard cites Jean-Auguste-Dominique Ingres. The absence of Peter Greenaway, a veteran of such comparisons, is noted, with a hint that he might appear in a third episode.
