Film explores gardens in modern painting, from Impressionists to avant-garde
A new film traces the evolution of gardens in modern art, inspired by a Royal Academy of Arts exhibition in London. The documentary covers Impressionist visions to avant-garde experiments, featuring artists like Matisse, Bonnard, Renoir, Kandinsky, Pissarro, Sorolla, Nolde, and Liebermann. Monet, a passionate gardener, painted his water lily pond at Giverny over 250 times across thirty years. The film also visits real gardens depicted in artworks, such as Bonnard's garden in Vernonnet, Normandy, and Kandinsky's in Murnau, Germany. It screens in cinemas only on May 24 and 25.
