Filippo Capobianco: From Poetry Slam Champion to Published Author

publication · 2026-04-26

Filippo Capobianco, a poet and performer from Pavia (born 1998), won the 17th World Cup of Poetry Slam in Paris in 2023 and recently published his first book, 'Le supernove non fanno rumore. E tu tossisci a teatro?' with Baldini + Castoldi. The book is not a poetry collection but a hybrid work blending poetry, drama, prose, and scientific popularization, which the author describes as a 'minestrone della nonna' and the publisher categorizes as a novel. Capobianco's stage show 'Mia mamma fa il notaio, ma anche il risotto' has toured Italy, including Milan's Teatro Elfo Puccini and Rome's Teatro India, and won the Fringe Festival in Milan. The book's narrative centers on a character called the Drammaturga-Demiurga, inspired by Eugène Ionesco, which emerged from a line Capobianco woke up with in May 2023: 'L'Universo comincia in un teatro.' He explains that writing for the page required adapting his performance texts through deep rewriting, while maintaining the same creative roots. Capobianco holds a degree in Physics from the University of Pavia (2020) and has been involved in poetry performance since 2021, also conducting workshops in schools.
