Filipa Ramos to Curate 2027 Lofoten International Art Festival
Filipa Ramos has been selected as the curator for the 19th Lofoten International Art Festival, which will take place in June 2027 in the Norwegian Arctic archipelago. A curator and writer, Ramos is also an educator at the Institute Art Gender Nature at the Academy of Art and Design FHNW in Basel, where she focuses on research that redefines the connections among humans, animals, and the environment. In 2025, she published 'The Artist as Ecologist' and is presently involved in organizing the LOOP Festival in Barcelona and the symposium series 'The Shape of a Circle in the Mind of a Fish' alongside Lucia Pietroiusti. They previously collaborated on 'Songs for the Changing Seasons' for the inaugural Vienna Klima Biennale in 2024 and 'Persones Persons' for the 2022 Biennale Gherdeïna. Ramos envisions Lofoten as an ideal setting where artistic and ecological elements intertwine, aiming to promote 'forms of prolonged listening' that encourage interactions between humans and non-human entities, while nurturing attentive listening practices and new imaginative concepts.
