Fifth-graders curate 'Fantasmi dell'anima' at Gagliardi e Domke gallery in Turin

exhibition · 2026-04-27

Fifth-grade students from Turin's Gian Enrico Pestalozzi primary school, located in the Barriera di Milano district, have curated the exhibition "Fantasmi dell'anima" at the Gagliardi e Domke contemporary art gallery. The project, supervised by curator Lorena Tadorni, reimagines the gallery's earlier show "Amarcord" through children's selections. Works include reworkings of vintage photos by J&Peg, space-time astronaut portraits by Daniele D'Acquisto, dramatic historical moments by Ennio Bertrand (including children imprisoned at Auschwitz and the 9/11 attacks), an image of Chernobyl by Miha Strukelj, cuttings by Carlo Steiner, and a sculptural installation by Irene Gasparroni. Due to pandemic restrictions, all interactions with gallerists and artists occurred via Zoom, with virtual tours and online selection of works, catalog writing, and label creation. The project was supported by Social Hub Artistico e Creativo Shac, run by the Babelica association, and funded by Fondazione CRT, Circolo Arci Antonio Banfo, Togaci Streetview Art Gallery, and Circoscrizione 6 of Turin. A parallel educational track on art was led by Alessandro Quaranta, and a poster art workshop by Rosy Togaci. The exhibition runs until December 23, and from December 20, works from Quaranta's workshop will be viewable online, while poster art by Togaci will be displayed on shutters of the Streetview Art Gallery at Banfo in via Cervino.
