Fifth Edition of Premio Sparti Opens in Ascoli Piceno with 'Dove finisce la città'

The fifth edition of the Premio Sparti, named 'Dove finisce la città' (Where the City Ends), will commence on May 23, 2026, at the Frida Museum and Forte Malatesta in Ascoli Piceno, Italy, and will continue until June 28, 2026. Curated by Alex Urso, this exhibition showcases over twenty international artists who investigate artistic practices beyond major urban areas. It is organized into three segments: 'Essere oltre' (Being Beyond) at Forte Malatesta, featuring artists such as Francesco Arena and Davide Maria Coltro; 'Essere qui' (Being Here), highlighting Marche-based talents like Riccardo Angelini; and 'Essere altro' (Being Other), co-curated by Caterina Angelucci and Alex Urso at Frida Museum, spotlighting five emerging artists. Urso emphasizes that 70% of Italy comprises 'minor' locales, where selected artists have established their creative hubs, transforming them into 'basins of thought and practice.' The exhibition seeks to examine the evolving landscape of contemporary art in Italy.
