Fifth Edition of Illustri Festival Brings Illustration to Vicenza's Historic Palaces

festival-fair · 2026-04-27

The fifth edition of Illustri Festival is underway in Vicenza, running until July 17, 2022. Organized by the association founded in 2014, the festival features over 500 works displayed across historic venues in the city center. The program centers on four exhibitions, three of which are held at the Basilica Palladiana, designed by Andrea Palladio. These include 'Illustri' showcasing eleven Italian illustration talents such as Ale Giorgini, Carlo Stanga, Elena Xausa, and Elisa Talentino; 'Saranno Illustri' for emerging artists; and a solo show by Guido Scarabottolo inaugurating the new 'Maestri Illustri' section. The highlight is the first Italian solo exhibition of Christoph Niemann, a leading German illustrator, with over 200 works on view until August 28 at Gallerie d'Italia in Vicenza. For the first time, Palazzo Thiene, a Renaissance palace designed by Giulio Romano and Andrea Palladio and recently acquired by the city, hosts a temporary exhibition of illustrated calendars from the Collezione Burgo featuring Noma Bar, Manuele Fior, Marina Marcolin, Sarah Mazzetti, and Emiliano Ponzi. Additional events include the Bum Market on June 25-26 with 25 illustrators at Borgo Berga, and 'Nuovo cinema Illustri' on July 1-3 focusing on motion graphics and augmented reality at Spazio AB23. The festival also offers workshops, talks, and children's activities throughout its four-week run.
