Fifth edition of Artisti per Frescobaldi postponed to 2021

The fifth edition of Artisti per Frescobaldi, a biennial contemporary art prize founded in 2012 by artistic director Tiziana Frescobaldi and curated by art critic Ludovico Pratesi, has postponed its award ceremony to 2021 due to the pandemic. The three invited artists—Canadian Andrew Dadson, American Erica Mahinay, and Italian Gian Maria Tosatti—worked during lockdown on works inspired by their residencies at CastelGiocondo, the Frescobaldi family estate in Montalcino, Tuscany, where Brunello wine is produced. The prize aims to continue the Frescobaldi family's Renaissance tradition of art patronage, supporting contemporary artists and enriching the family collection. Artists are also asked to design a label for a limited edition magnum of CastelGiocondo Brunello 2015. The jury, including Patrizia Sandretto Re Rebaudengo, Ralph Rugoff, and Rina Carvajal, was to decide the winner on September 24 in Milan. The works will be delivered to CastelGiocondo after early September. Dadson works primarily with photography on landscape, Mahinay explores the relationship between body and painting, and Tosatti creates evocative environmental installations. The delivery deadline was extended by two months to accommodate pandemic-related delays.
