Fiera Milano's Archive Becomes an Immersive Exhibition at Triennale

exhibition · 2026-05-04

Fondazione Fiera Milano, in collaboration with AFIP International, presents 'Prospettiva. Viaggio negli archivi di Fondazione Fiera Milano' at La Triennale di Milano. Curated by architect Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli of OMA, the exhibition transforms the foundation's photographic archives—digitized since 2011—into an immersive, cinematic experience. Spanning 1920 to 2000, it features photographs, negatives, slides, posters, and brochures capturing the Fiera Campionaria di Milano, a showcase of Italian industrial culture and economic miracle. Visitors encounter images of crowds, ministers arriving by helicopter, giant coffee makers, and cows, reflecting Italian society from the 1920s through the postwar boom to the 1980s. The exhibition highlights works by renowned designers like Albini, Baldassari, Castiglioni, Noorda, and Mari, and photographers such as Scianna, Basilico, and Berengo Gardin. While focusing on the postwar period, it downplays the Fascist autarky era. The show evokes both euphoria and melancholy about Italy's current economic and environmental challenges.
