Fiechter Salzmann Designs New Gymnasium for Listed School Complex in Ostermundigen

The architectural firm Fiechter Salzmann has completed a new gymnasium for the Mösli school complex in Ostermundigen, Switzerland. The project, which was finished in 2024, covers an area of 1,500 square meters and was designed by principal architect Lorenz Zahler, with a design team comprising Reto Streit, Kaspar Berbuer, and Barbora Cervenova. The school complex, which is a listed heritage site, is characterized by a clear orthogonal structure and is situated in a generous wooded landscape at the northern edge of Ostermundigen. Four compact pavilions are organized around a central courtyard framed by covered walkways, forming the spatial heart of the ensemble. The new gymnasium integrates into this existing context. The project was curated by Nina Vuga and involved project management by PBK, landscape architecture by Andreas Geser, civil engineering by Weber Brönimann, and additional engineering and consulting by eicher+pauli.
