Fictional Stories Humanize Alvar Aalto's Architecture at Aalto2 Museum
In April, the Aalto2 Museum Centre Gallery in Jyväskylä, Finland, opens '13 Stories about Humane Design,' an exhibition that pairs Alvar Aalto's architectural works with fictional narratives. Writer Sanna Puutonen was commissioned by the Alvar Aalto Museum to create thirteen short stories imagining the experiences of users within Aalto's buildings—from a child's perspective of a new home to the acoustics of resonant spaces and the sense of community fostered by hospital design. The exhibition aims to shift focus from abstract architectural principles to human-centered experiences, adding a narrative layer to the built environment. It runs at the Aalto2 Museum Centre Gallery, which combines the Alvar Aalto Museum and the Museum of Central Finland.
