FICO Eataly World Opens in Bologna: Architecture and Design of the Food Park
On November 15, 2017, Bologna will unveil FICO Eataly World, the largest agri-food park globally. This expansive 100,000-square-meter facility, designed by Thomas Bartoli, revitalizes structures from the 1970s located in the CAAB area. Backed by the Municipality of Bologna and owned by Eataly, Coop Alleanza 3.0, and Coop Reno, the park illustrates the entire food production process from seed to plate. Visitors can explore restaurants, shops, laboratories, fields, and stables housing 200 animals and 2,000 plants. The park also boasts a central gallery, photovoltaic panels, six interactive rides, and short films from the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia di Milano. With 40 food factories, 40 dining options, and a modular congress center, it aims to attract 6 million visitors, including 300,000 children through educational programs.
