Fiamma Montezemolo's Monologue: Artribune's New Podcast Series

Artribune launches 'Monologhi al Telefono', a new podcast series where artists deliver intimate monologues via pre-scheduled silent phone calls. The first episode features Fiamma Montezemolo, a Roman artist and cultural anthropologist born in 1971, who lives between Rome and San Francisco and teaches in the Department of Cinema and Digital Studies at the University of California, Davis. Her work explores frontier concepts and cultural models, recently showcased in the exhibition 'Entanglements' at Magazzino, addressing themes like a tattooed snake on a prisoner's body, Quetzalcoatl, the Bourbon prison on Santo Stefano island, and the Italian flag as a screen to remember migrants. In her monologue, Montezemolo reflects on power strategies throughout history and proposes a minute of silence to imagine artistic practice as quietness, saying: 'On my research you can read in various writings and interviews, and my artistic practice, rather than commenting on it, perhaps needs to be seen or, as I would propose here, silenced, hushed, and listened to without words.' The series is curated by Donatella Giordano, who studied at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma.
