FestiWall 2019 concludes in Ragusa with six new murals by international artists

The fifth and final edition of FestiWall, a public art festival in Ragusa, Sicily, is underway until September 15, 2019. Founded in 2015, the festival has transformed the city into a hub for street art and urban regeneration. This year's featured artists include Elian Chali (Argentina), Case Maclaim (Germany), M-City (Poland), Ciredz (Italy), Ampparito (Spain), and Fasoli aka Jaz (Argentina). Most murals are located in the industrial zone, an area hit by the global economic crisis. The festival's headquarters is the newly inaugurated Skate Park, where Elian Chali created 'Traiettorie e Forme,' an abstract, minimalist mural using primary colors and geometric lines. Artistic director Vincenzo Cascone stated that this is the last edition, as the festival's reflection on Ragusa's urban space is complete. Over four years, FestiWall has produced more than 30 interventions, including murals, site-specific installations, and recovery of disused municipal properties.
