Festivals Berlioz and Messiaen explore heroism in 2023 editions
Bruno Messina has curated the 2023 Festival Berlioz in La-Côte-Saint-André, running from August 20 to September 30, and the Festival Messiaen in La Grave, scheduled for July 20 to 30, both centered on the theme of the hero. Notably, the Berlioz festival will showcase a concert rendition of 'Les Troyens' under the baton of John Eliot Gardiner (80) on August 22 and 23, with a repeat performance at the Opéra royal de Versailles on August 29. Additionally, the world premiere of 'Hercule, dernier acte' by Zad Moultaka will be performed by Musicatreize on August 28, while Moultaka’s video installation 'Sisyphe' will be displayed from August 26 to November 30. The Festival Messiaen will highlight Gérard Grisey's 'Le Noir de l'étoile' performed by Les Percussions de Strasbourg at sunset.
