Festival Musica 2025 in Strasbourg spotlights female composers with premieres and cross-disciplinary works

The Festival Musica in Strasbourg will continue until October 5, 2025, highlighting the contributions of female composers, prominently featuring Montreal's Nicole Lizée. Her notable pieces include Death to Kosmische (2010) and Colliding Galaxies: Color and Tones (2014). After a 30-year hiatus, the Kronos Quartet is set to perform Death to Kosmische, Neil Young's Ohio (1977), and the French debut of Mary Kouyoumdjian's Bombs of Beirut (2025). Laura Bowler will showcase The Sad Album (2025), while Kristine Tjøgersen teams up with Benedicte Maurseth for Elja (2025). Performances of Lizée's works are scheduled for September 21 and 26, 2025, with Tjøgersen's Elja and Bowler's The Sad Album both on September 20. Additional events will feature Germaine Acogny and Julie Deliquet from September 24 to October 17, 2025.
