Festival for the Earth Returns to Venice for Third Edition

festival-fair · 2026-05-04

The third edition of the Festival per la Terra/Festival for the Earth will take place on December 3-4 in Venice and nearby locations, with an incursion to Padua. Founded by artist Maria Rebecca Ballestra (born 1974 in Ventimiglia), the festival aims to promote sustainable living through conferences, workshops, and artist encounters. Ballestra, known for her projects Journey into Fragility (2012-2015) and Echoes of the Void, conceived the festival after her travels to 12 locations across four continents. The opening speeches will be delivered by Prince Albert II of Monaco and Youba Sokona, Vice-President of the UN IPCC, at Ca' Foscari University, which co-produces the event with MRB Art. Venues include Ca' Foscari University, Ateneo Veneto, Museo di Storia Naturale in Venice, and the Orto Botanico in Padua, where film screenings and discussions will be held. The festival brings together Nobel, Pulitzer, and Goldman Prize winners, as well as members of international organizations, to address environmental issues through art, science, humanities, economics, and ecology.
