Festival d'Aix-en-Provence closes 78th edition with nearly 64,000 spectators

The 78th Festival d'Aix-en-Provence wrapped up on July 21, 2026, attracting close to 64,000 attendees. Running from July 2 to 21, the festival was envisioned by Pierre Audi as a celebration of his artistic perspective. Operas and concerts drew in over 38,000 patrons, while nearly 26,000 enjoyed free activities, such as the Aix en juin pre-festival, performances by the Orchestre des Jeunes de la Méditerranée, film showings, public rehearsals, discussions, and introductory events. The festival achieved an impressive overall attendance rate of 92 percent, with staged operas hitting a remarkable 97 percent capacity—four percentage points higher than the previous year, 2025.
