Fernando Zarif's Interdisciplinary Works Featured in São Paulo Solo Exhibition

exhibition · 2026-04-23

Fernando Zarif (1960-2010) receives a solo exhibition at Luciana Brito Galeria in São Paulo, presenting around 50 rarely or never-before-seen works. The show, on view until March 9, features three distinct series: large acrylic paintings, vertical metal sculptures, and small-format collages on canvas with a Duchampian universe of objects like keys, locks, matches, and scissors. Zarif, who died prematurely at age 50, had his first exhibition in 1982 after abandoning architecture studies. His work, which moved fluidly between erudite and underground culture, has been revisited in recent years through exhibitions, debates, and research. In 2011, his family established the Projeto Fernando Zarif in São Paulo to catalog, preserve, and disseminate his vast output, having already cataloged and restored about 2,000 works. The gallery is located at Avenida Nove de Julho, 5.162, São Paulo, with free admission.
