Ferdinando Scianna Retrospective at Palazzo Reale, Milan
A major retrospective of photographer Ferdinando Scianna, titled 'Viaggio Racconto Memoria,' is on view at Palazzo Reale in Milan. Curated by Paola Bergna, Denis Curti, and Alberto Bianda, the exhibition features around 200 photographs spanning over half a century of the Sicilian photographer's career. The show is organized into thematic cycles: memory, storytelling, travel, obsessions (shadows and mirrors), and portraits of celebrities, including a private section dedicated to writer Leonardo Sciascia, Scianna's early friend and mentor. Scianna worked as a correspondent from Paris and special envoy for L'Europeo, later joining Magnum agency. The exhibition also includes a fashion section documenting his collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, featuring model Marpessa in Sicily. A large display case showcases over seventy photobooks published by Scianna, which he considers the 'incandescent point' of his work. The exhibition is produced by the Municipality of Milan and Civita Mostre e Musei.
