Fendi Roma: Artisans of Dreams at Moscow Museum of Modern Art
While the world focused on the Venice Architecture Biennale, Italian creativity took center stage in Russia. On May 27, the exhibition 'Fendi Roma: Artisans of Dreams' opened at the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (MMOMA), running until June 10. The show was the highlight of a weekend dedicated to the Italian fashion house, which also saw the inauguration of a new flagship Fendi store in a historic 1833 building on Stoleshnikov Pereulok. The exhibition explores the creativity of one of Europe's oldest fashion brands, focusing particularly on fur creations. Eight exhibition halls at MMOMA reconstruct the history of the label, now part of Bernard Arnault's LVMH conglomerate, blending innovation and Italian artisanal tradition under the talents of Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi. Among fur panels and psychedelic installations that highlight colors and shapes of the collections, there is a tribute to the iconic Astuccio created by Lagerfeld in 1971. A section called The Essentials references the present, set in a neoclassical hall reminiscent of the Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana at EUR, Fendi's new headquarters in Rome.
