Fendi Fall/Winter 2017-18: Craftsmanship and Pastel Hues at Milan Fashion Week
Fendi presented its Fall/Winter 2017-18 collection at Milan Fashion Week, directed by Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi. The show evoked a 1970s diva strolling along Rome's Via Condotti, with music by Ennio Morricone. Garments and accessories drew inspiration from 18th-century papiers dominotés and Viennese woodblocks for printing, with the same wood lining the runway walls. Techniques of printing and inlay were applied to fabrics, leathers, and furs, creating multicolor textures and natural forms. The collection featured intellectual elegance: shirts and light dresses under double-breasted jackets and coats, Prince of Wales check, wool, cashmere, fur, velvet, and tulle transparency accented in red. Key handbag styles included the classic Baguette, Peekaboo, and Kan I, now with fringes, double logos in velvet patchwork, or python inserts. The new Run Away bag debuted—a boxy style with two compartments in nappa and python, in cheerful pastel colors. Fur straps reinforced Fendi's identity. The show was reported by Clara Tosi Pamphili for Artribune.
