Feminist sticker album supports Rome women's shelter facing eviction

other · 2026-04-27

The feminist collective Lucha y Siesta, which runs the Casa delle Donne shelter in Rome's Tuscolano district, has launched a sticker album titled 'All'attacco! Storie da collezionare' to raise funds for purchasing its building. The shelter, housed in an ATAC-owned property occupied 11 years ago, faces eviction by 2021 as part of ATAC's extraordinary sale plan to avoid bankruptcy. The album features portraits of female fighters past and present, illustrated by about twenty volunteer artists including Makkox, Gianluca Costantini, Mauro Biani, Manfredi Ciminale, Irene Rinaldi, and Vittorio Giacopini. Stories include Ilaria Cucchi, Carola Rackete, and partisan Lucia Ottobrini. The album is curated with the Roman collective Una volta per tutte and designed by Chiara Visone. It is distributed through a network of points or by home delivery. The initiative is part of the 'Lucha alla città' crowdfunding campaign. Artribune reports that the collective refused to provide images or press releases for this article due to a previous article by editorial director Massimiliano Tonelli in September 2019, which revealed the authorship of a public art projection reading 'VENDESI' on Roman monuments—a project by Lucha y Siesta. The article also criticized squatting. The collective has blacklisted the publication. Despite this, the album is reportedly selling well, with exchange groups and long waiting lists.
