Feminist exhibition explores the concept of home in Ferrara home gallery

exhibition · 2026-04-26

The MLB Maria Livia Brunelli Gallery in Ferrara presents 'Quella Casa', a feminist exhibition pairing works by Anna Di Prospero (born 1987) and the late Milli Gandini (1941–2017). Gandini, founder of the Gruppo Femminista Immagine di Varese (active 1974–1988) with Mariuccia Secol, participated in the 1978 Venice Biennale at Magazzini del Sale alongside Mirella Bentivoglio's 'Materializzazione del linguaggio'. Her works feature painted pots wrapped in barbed wire and dust with the inscription 'Salario al lavoro domestico', critiquing women's domestic roles. Di Prospero's photographic series 'Astray' (part of 'Beyond the Visible') uses chiaroscuro to transform domestic spaces into resilient, almost magical interiors. The exhibition runs until February 5, 2025.
