Feminist and Queer Interventions Define 54th October Salon in Belgrade's Zepter Expo
From 11 October to 17 November 2013, the Zepter Expo gallery in Belgrade hosted the 54th October Salon, under the curation of Danijela Dugandžić Živanović, Katja Kobolt, Dunja Kukovec, and Jelena Petrović. The exhibition, framed as "Living Archive" by Biljana Kašić, included interactive elements that explored patriarchal post-socialist and neoliberal contexts, highlighting feminist and queer perspectives. Artworks from the former Yugoslavia tackled issues of labor exploitation and environmental challenges. Among the standout pieces were Milijana Babić's "Artist Looking for Any Kind of Job (2011/12)" and Ines Doujak's "Loomshuttles/ Warpaths (2010)." The Salon's award was jointly awarded to Flaka Haliti, Lana Čmajčanin, Adela Jušić, and Andrea Palašti, with the theme "No One Belongs Here More Than You" underscoring its dedication to feminist spaces.
