Feltrinelli Acquires 30% Stake in Italian Publisher Il Saggiatore

Italian publishing group Feltrinelli has acquired a 30% stake in Il Saggiatore, a publisher specializing in non-fiction. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Feltrinelli stated the acquisition will expand its offerings in sociology, history, economics, and science. Il Saggiatore, founded by Alberto Mondadori in 1958, will remain under the direction of Luca Formenton and will benefit from Feltrinelli's distribution and promotion network. This is part of a series of recent acquisitions by Feltrinelli: in February 2024 it bought full ownership of the Scuola Holden in Turin, a private writing school founded by Alessandro Baricco in 1994, having previously owned just over 50%; in July 2024 it purchased 10% of publisher Adelphi; in November 2025 it acquired a majority stake in Codice Edizioni, a Turin-based publisher focused on scientific dissemination and cultural events.
