Fellinopolis Documentary Reveals Fellini at Work, Arrives in Theaters June 10

publication · 2026-04-27

The documentary 'Fellinopolis', directed by Silvia Giulietti, will be released in Italian theaters on June 10, 2025, distributed by Officine UBU. It premiered at the Rome Film Festival. The film features exclusive backstage footage shot by Ferruccio Castronuovo on the sets of 'La città delle donne', 'E la nave va', and 'Ginger e Fred', originally intended for promotional use. Castronuovo's footage is interwoven with recollections from collaborators including Oscar winners Lina Wertmüller, Nicola Piovani, and Dante Ferretti. Giulietti noted that while much has been written about Fellini, little visual material captures his creative process; the centenary of his birth provided the impetus to release this rare testimony.
