Fellini's Dream Diaries Published in Facsimile
Federico Fellini's dream journals, spanning from the late 1960s to 1990, have been published as a single facsimile volume by Flammarion. The two notebooks contain both written accounts and drawings, reflecting the filmmaker's Jungian analysis and later interest in spiritualism. Fellini had been a cartoonist before cinema, lending a professional quality to the sketches. The dreams feature recurring motifs such as Giulietta Masina, Pasolini, and self-portraits of the artist from behind with his youthful slim body. The French edition includes small-format reproductions of the double pages with translations. Tullio Kezich, author of a concurrent biography published by Gallimard, contributes a preface warning against intrusive interpretation.
