Feira Tijuana Celebrates 10 Years with 23rd Edition in São Paulo
The 23rd edition of Feira Tijuana, the first artist's book and publication fair organized in Brazil, marks its 10th anniversary this weekend on August 3 and 4, 2019. Held at Casa do Povo in São Paulo's Bom Retiro neighborhood, the event features over 100 participating publishers. Organized in partnership with the Ministério da Cidadania, Casa do Povo, Edições Tijuana, and Galeria Vermelho, the fair has specialized since 2009 in connecting Latin American publishers. It has become itinerant, with editions in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Lima, Buenos Aires, and Porto. The current network spans publishers from Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay, and Venezuela. This edition's program, curated by researcher Beatriz Lemos and artist Fabio Morais, expands beyond printed art to include slam poetry, sound insertions, and performances. Debates will address contemporary race relations, Africanities in Brazil, indigenous causes, and political autonomism. Admission is free.
