Federico Zeri's Villa Near Rome to Become Museum and Research Center
On July 25, 2026, an agreement was established between the University of Bologna and Italy's Ministry of Culture to convert Villa Zeri in Mentana into a cultural hub, museum, and research center. This villa, which belonged to art critic Federico Zeri (1921–1998), has been for sale since 2018 for €2.5 million but failed to attract buyers. The University of Bologna will continue to own the property, which is overseen by Istituto Pantheon e Castel Sant'Angelo. The initiative, titled "Villa Zeri. Abitare le immagini," will feature exhibitions, conferences, and artist residencies to honor Zeri’s legacy. Luca Mercuri and Giovanni Molari signed the agreement, with Minister Alessandro Giuli emphasizing the villa's cultural importance. Designed by Andrea Busiri Vici, the villa hosted Fondazione Zeri until 2010.
