Federico Solmi's New Video at Aljira's COMM|ALT|SHIFT Exhibition

Opening on July 22, 2017, the group exhibition COMM|ALT|SHIFT, curated by Larry Ossei-Mensah and Dexter Wimberly, will be hosted at Aljira, a contemporary art center in Newark, New Jersey. This showcase features 14 international artists who primarily utilize video to delve into themes of surveillance, manipulation, and control within modern society. The exhibition's title alludes to keyboard shortcuts that modify actions, reflecting video’s dual purpose as both entertainment and a means of control. Among the artists, Federico Solmi (b. 1973, Bologna) presents The Rotten Ones, a satirical video installation blending traditional painting with 3D and gaming technologies. The exhibition will continue until September 23, 2017, and includes artists such as Carlos Aires, Delphine Fawundu, and Jen Liu, among others.
