Federico Grilli's 'Un agosto durato troppo a lungo' at Alchemilla, Bologna

At Palazzo Vizzani Lambertini Sanguinetti in Bologna, Alchemilla presents Federico Grilli's solo exhibition 'Un agosto durato troppo a lungo,' curated by Margherita Arduini and on view until March 15, 2026. The show is the outcome of Grilli's two-month residency as part of Alchemilla's Residenze-Studio program, now in its fifth edition. The exhibition features six site-specific multimedia installations spread across as many rooms of the historic palace, exploring the power and limits of imagination through the artist's childhood memories of invented vacation stories. Grilli's work oscillates between revelation and disappearance, with pieces emerging from darkened or dimly lit spaces. The residency program, launched in 2020, supports emerging artists and is funded by Fondazione del Monte di Bologna e Ravenna and Fondazione Zucchelli. Grilli was selected through the Premio Zucchelli for students of the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna. Previous residents include Flavia Zaganelli (curated by Silvia Bottiroli) and Friedrich Andreoni (curated by Giulia Giacomelli). Alchemilla, a nonprofit directed by Camilla Sanguinetti since 2019, promotes contemporary art research through exhibitions, talks, and performances.
