Federico Gori's 'Come afferrare il vento' at Palazzo Fabroni
Federico Gori's solo exhibition 'Come afferrare il vento' (How to Grasp the Wind) is on view at Palazzo Fabroni in Pistoia until July 26, 2015. Curated by Marco Pierini, the show comprises 11 works including installations, wall pieces, sculptures, and videos, all exploring the intersection of time and nature. The exhibition is structured like a film with two parts: the first room, lit by natural light, serves as a prologue, leading to an 'Underground' space featuring hundreds of tree roots engraved on naturally oxidized copper, symbolizing natural change and the passage of time. The titular work consists of a thousand copper leaves suspended at various heights, capturing a gust of wind forever. The second part, dedicated to the element 'earth,' includes six large canvases depicting tree bark through frottage, where nature paints itself. Another series, '13/12,' comprises terracotta clods shaped by human hands and enclosed in glass cases, evoking the sacredness of nature and a return to roots. Gori, aged 38, states that the cyclical nature of time and eternal return are themes he has explored for years, and this exhibition represents a summation of his artistic journey.
