Federico D’Annunzio’s ‘Habeas Corpus’ Proposes Legal Framework for the Digital Age

publication · 2026-04-26

Federico D’Annunzio, a high-tech entrepreneur and the great-grandson of Gabriele D’Annunzio, has released a book titled “Habeas Corpus” through Edizioni San Paolo. In this work, he contends that the concept of privacy illustrates the disintegration of habeas corpus in today's digital landscape. The text serves as a manifesto for the “Neurocene,” a period where natural, human, and artificial intelligence collaboratively generate knowledge. D’Annunzio introduces the notion of the “Extended Body,” which currently lacks legal safeguards, and advocates for laws that define digital existence. He criticizes the Anglo-Saxon approach for allowing technology to develop independently, resulting in private oligarchies with sovereign authority. Promoting “Digital Humanism,” he suggests a legal system that employs blockchain for verifiable evidence, ensuring human oversight in justice. Ginevra Barbetti conducted the interview, which appeared in Artribune.
