Federico Cina's APPARTAMENTO FW23-24 runway performance explores the concept of home

During Milan Men's Fashion Week on January 14, 2023, Italian designer Federico Cina presented his APPARTAMENTO fall-winter 2023-24 collection as a runway performance. The show, conceived with creative director Federico Tansella, featured models carrying chairs wrapped in white cloth and tied with jute ropes, symbolizing a conceptual move from one home to another. The performance included a recited text and moments where models sat and observed the audience. Cina, born in 1994 in Sarsina, Emilia Romagna, studied at Polimoda in Florence and Osaka Bunka Fashion College in Japan. He emerged at AltaRoma with his FW19 collection Romagna mia and has received awards including the Who's Next contest in 2019 and selection as a semifinalist for the LVMH Prize 2021. The collection draws inspiration from Polish photographer Joanna Piotrowska's series Frantic, which depicts subjects in play tents exploring past domesticity. Cina's designs incorporate stripes, quilted fabrics, jacquard lace inspired by old blankets, carpets, and drapery from childhood homes. The collection combines knitwear with denim and lightweight fabrics, using volumetric contrasts and oversized proportions. Color palettes evoke warmth and security, blending dream and reality through layered textures and patterns.
