Federico Babina's Chairportrait Animates 30 Iconic Design Chairs

Architect and graphic designer Federico Babina has released a short video titled 'Chairportrait' that anthropomorphizes 30 iconic chairs from design history. In just over a minute, the video gives each seat a face, emphasizing their unique characteristics through pareidolia—the psychological phenomenon of perceiving familiar patterns, like faces, in random objects. Babina states, 'Imagination is a superpower that everyone possesses, but many do not know they have; with imagination, things change color and objects come to life, taking on an extraordinary appearance.' He adds, 'I like to think of these chairs that inhabit our homes as active but silent spectators of our lives.' The work was published on Artribune in May 2022.
