Federica Schiavo Gallery Relocates from Milan to Rome

institutional · 2026-04-26

Federica Schiavo Gallery is returning to Rome after seven years in Milan, citing prohibitive costs. The gallery originally opened in Rome in 2009, moved to Milan in 2016, and briefly operated as Schiavo Zoppelli Gallery in collaboration with Chiara Zoppelli. Now, Schiavo has reopened at Palazzo dei Cento Presti on Lungotevere dei Vallati 2 in Rome. The inaugural exhibition, "Helmeted Towards Dawn," features German artist Michael Bauer (born 1973 in Erkelenz) with paintings from the last two years, ranging from large, psychedelic works to smaller, intimate pieces. Bauer describes the large works as a prequel to the smaller ones, with figures emerging from entropy into melancholic, dissolving spaces. Schiavo expressed hope that Milan will regain its creative vitality.
