Federica Gonnelli's 'Identità in ombra' at Studio 38, Pistoia

Federica Gonnelli (born 1981, Florence) presents 'Identità in ombra' at Galleria Studio 38 in Pistoia. The exhibition draws inspiration from the cloud over Solomon's temple imagined by von Eckartshausen, using it as a metaphor for human fragility. Recent pandemic-induced social voids reinforced Gonnelli's reflection on transience, linking dissipation to death, while also considering the cloud as shadow, cover, distance, and separation. Through dark colors, blurred figures, and a play of fullness and emptiness, she contrasts nature's circular movement (suggested by cloud formation) with the linear trajectory of human life. The lightness of reworked art photography and the sobriety of installations create an ethereal setup that warns of humanity's concrete extinction risks if its assault on the ecosystem continues. The exhibition is curated by Niccolò Lucarelli, who also wrote the critical text.
