FBI Investigates Journalist Over Leaks in Critical Article on Director Kash Patel

According to MS Now, the FBI has initiated a criminal leak inquiry aimed at a journalist who penned a critical piece about Kash Patel, the leader of the US law enforcement agency. This investigation is notable for its focus on the journalist rather than the officials responsible for the leak. Last month, Patel filed a $250 million lawsuit against The Atlantic and the article’s writer, Sarah Fitzpatrick, deeming it a "sweeping, malicious, and defamatory hit piece." The Atlantic’s article alleged that Patel had a drinking problem and hinted at his potential job loss as FBI director. MS Now reported that the FBI's investigation, referred to as an "insider threat investigation," involves the article's use of two dozen anonymous sources. However, FBI spokesman Ben Williamson denied to MS Now that any investigation was currently taking place.
