Fazal Sheikh Donates Fourteen Photographs to Block Museum

The Block Museum of Art at Northwestern University has welcomed a gift of fourteen photographs from renowned artist Fazal Sheikh. This donation honors Henry Bienen, the interim president and president emeritus, along with his wife, Leigh Bienen, who is a senior lecturer emerita at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law. The collection showcases Sheikh's artistic journey over more than thirty years and includes striking portraits and landscapes. Notably, many images focus on his early work in refugee camps across East Africa and Pakistan, addressing critical issues such as migration, human rights, and environmental justice.
